Oops! She did it again- in a good way. It’s official, Britany Spears has reinvented herself! The release of her newest album, Glory, and her comeback performance at the 2016 Video Music Awards has jolted the Princess of Pop back into the spotlight. We all remember her 2007 VMA’s performance and the breakdown that nearly destroyed her brand and career.
Britney Spears- The Brand
Since her early debut on the Mickey Mouse Club, Britney Spears has become an international pop culture icon, with hits like “Oops! I Did It Again” and “Baby One More Time” that skyrocketed her career and placed her as one of the best-selling female artists of all time. Her brand persona transcended the music industry and her comeback and reinvention is a breath of fresh air for her fans. According to Fast Company, her new album, Glory, “hailed as a “masterpiece” and her “most adventurous album in a decade,” has seemingly accomplished what the three records before it had hoped for: the rehabilitation of the nearly 20-year-old Britney Spears brand.”
In her early years, Britney’s reputation represented a fun, and fearless artist not afraid to push the limits. It’s clear that she has tapped back into that with her new album and her latest appearance on ‘The Late Late Show’ with James Corbin. Where she is seen in the popular primetime special Carpool Karaoke singing along to some of her old and new hits. As well as her appearance on The Ellen Show, where the two are seen causing mischief at a local shopping mall. She’s created a unique mixture of new flare with a hint of nostalgia that feels fresh and authentic for her fans. Britney’s executive producer said it best that, “the key to reinventing Britney Spears for 2016 … was the Britney I knew from the outside, … always taking chances, always changing, and always doing something new.”
